SUMMARY

The American Red Cross (ARC) International Services Department (ISD) seeks to prevent and alleviate human suffering around the world by responding to disasters, building safer, more resilient communities, and educating future humanitarians. With programs and partners in 70 countries, the American Red Cross working to strengthen the global Red Cross Red Crescent Network in order to deliver critical assistance to some of the most vulnerable communities in the world, reaching 100 million people annually.

The American Red Cross is seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst to support its International Services Finance (ISF) unit. The ISF unit provides business intelligence and decision making support to its clients within the International Services Department (ISD). The incumbent will monitor all federal grants compliance, accounting operations, reporting, budgeting, corporate policies and procedures, and internal controls related to financial activity within their assigned region.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Conduct monthly review of financial results for assigned lines of business.

· Proactively identify and recommend opportunities to increase revenue, decrease costs, gain efficiencies, improve fiscal controls or improve operational capabilities within assigned lines of business.

· Coordinate with internationally based finance staff to ensure ARC priorities and controls are enforced.

· Provide analytical support for grant proposals creation, especially creating budgets and ensuring adequate funding.

· Monitor the disbursement of funds for field operations and other International Services activities.

· Provide oversight and guidance for identifying, recording, and reporting financial transactions.

· Recommend systems, controls, and procedures for recording program activities.

· Complete ad-hoc projects/assignments as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent years of experience) in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, in addition to a minimum of five years professional experience.

· Experience using large scale automated financial systems (ledger, budgeting and reporting) and spreadsheets/databases required.

· Knowledge of US GAAP and accounting applications suitable for field financial management required.

· Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable business needs.

· Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential as is attention to detail, team work, customer services and the ability to work in a large, complex international organization.

· Field experience within international relief and development programs strongly preferred.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks in fast paced working environment.

· Strong knowledge of US Government rules and regulations is preferred.

· Occasional business travel may be required.

· Spanish fluency is preferred.

· Selected candidate must already be legally allowed to work in the US without any need for Visa Sponsorship now or in the future.
