****OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES****
The Digital Communications Associate contributes to the operationalization of the Leadership, Management & Governance Project’s (LMG) strategic communications plan, primarily by managing the project’s website and social media. S/he will assist in developing and managing online engagement strategies. S/he will help manage LMG’s web presence and effectiveness on a variety of social media platforms. S/he will package and adapt content for the website and social media. S/he will help conceptualize and create innovative content for digital channels, including video, infographics, data visualizations, etc. S/he will coordinate content creation with technical experts for blog posts, newsletters, webinars, and other opportunities. S/he will manage trend and indicator tracking and analysis and inform the strategic communications plan’s digital strategy. S/he will also be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of technical efforts and/or field activities by coordinating programmatic information and providing logistical support for specific activities. S/he will work across the LMG Project team, and will be responsible for day-to-day coordination of specific activities.
****SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES****
****Digital Communications****
The Digital Communications Associate will manage the LMG Project’s website and social media by conceptualizing and creating innovative content with content experts.
LMG Website: S/he will manage the creation and curation of innovative LMG project website content, and will liaise with technical experts to ensure the content is fresh and relevant. S/he will help ensure all web content aligns with the project’s editorial calendar and branding and marking plan. S/he will post content to www.lmgforhealth.org via Drupal. S/he will tag existing and new content, and ensure consistent use of tags across the website for effective knowledge management, communications, and SEO. S/he will assist in matrixing existing and new content into a forthcoming updated taxonomy. S/he will manage administrative duties related to the website as needed.
Social Media: S/he will help manage LMG’s social media presence, and will create and distribute innovative content types (video, infographics, data visualization, etc.). S/he will analyze the relevance of various knowledge exchange channels and ensure LMG is innovating to better reach our audiences.
****Project Operations****
The Digital Communications Associate will provide general operational support to the LMG Project, and will be the key point person for operations of project communications activities.
Procurement: S/he will assist in procurement of goods and services, including processing purchase orders and subcontracts. S/he will routinely engage with LMG’s finance and project associate staff to advance routine tasks.
Activity Tracking: S/he will support Communications and the overall LMG Project with tracking the status of various products.
Project Documentation: S/he contributes to project knowledge management by documenting milestones in project and organizational knowledge management systems.
Other duties: as assigned. May include event planning support and logistics, and transcribing meeting minutes and flip charts.
****PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS****
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, computer science, information technology, public health, international affairs, or similar field. Due to the broad range of responsibilities, equivalent relevant experience is a major qualification.
- Basic to intermediate HTML, CSS, and SEO. Proven basic website design experience (formatting and arranging layout). Experience with Drupal highly desired.
- Minimum of two years of experience in digital communications, marketing, international development, and/or global health required. Knowledge of international programs, strategies, donors and organizations a plus.
- Ability to manage digital assets and utilize various content management systems.
- Ability to conceptualize and execute creative digital communications strategies and tactics.
- Demonstrate high technological literacy. Proven experience in social media, Web 2.0, online communications and management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and desktop publishing applications a must.
- Experience in social media training and leadership a plus.
- Photography and video editing skills very helpful. Familiarity with 508 compliance a plus.
- Self-starter able to work proactively and independently.
- Demonstrated competence to assess priorities, manage a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment, and meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
- Excellent coordination and administrative skills required.
- Must be a team player and able to maintain a flexible work manner and schedule.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive matters with discretion.
- French fluency highly desired.
