The IRC's Institutional Philanthropy & Partnerships (IPP) unit is a key part of the IRC's Revenue Department, which raises more than $65 million per annum. IPP works specifically with a global portfolio of private sector clients - foundations and corporations - that support the IRC through financial and other resource commitments. IPP engages partners at a deep strategic level, whether through philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, social impact investing, marketing, sponsorship, employee giving and match giving. The IPP team matches institutional client interests with the IRC's extensive programs globally.
Job Overview/Summary: The Account Manager, Institutional Philanthropy & Partnerships, works with an assigned senior front-line fundraiser within IPP (a Senior Officer) to support the engagement strategy for a defined portfolio of IRC clients that includes some of the world's leading foundations and businesses. This includes collaborating with the Senior Officer on generating and producing written content for partnership concept notes, pitches and proposals, as well as relationship management reports and communications.
The Account Manager monitors and tracks budgets for programs supported by institutional clients, and helps coordinate and prepare interim and end-of-grant reports, on-going communication and information management for the Senior Officer's portfolio. The Account Manager will also be responsible for one or more key support functions of the IPP team, which will include serving as internal liaison with the various programming and Revenue department teams, as well as other areas of the IRC such as Finance. The Account Manager will also ensure rigorous use of CRM tools and approvals processes.
In addition, the Account Manager will be responsible for planning and managing the full fundraising cycle of cultivation and solicitation for a small number prospects and donors who give or have the capacity to support the IRC philanthropically with grants at the $25,000+ level.
The Account Manager reports to the Associate Director of Institutional Philanthropy & Partnerships. This role offers a dynamic growth opportunity for someone eager to gain in-depth, hands-on experience of developing and managing complex private sector partnerships.
Major Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with an assigned IPP Senior Officer on executing strategies for private institutional clients within the Officer's portfolio;
- Provide communications that support the Senior Officer's interactions with portfolio clients, including general and targeted communications, concept notes, proposals, presentations and reports, from drafts through to final line-editing and formatting of finalized material;
- Prepare and contribute materials, agendas and briefings for external client meetings and for internal strategy meetings;
- Attend when possible and assist with follow up to external client meetings and internal strategy meetings.
- With the assigned Senior Officer, monitor and manage expectations and objectives for each institutional partner within the portfolio, including budget, evaluation and reporting;
- Manage information flows between the IRC private sector partners, program staff and the IPP unit;
- Manage and track the internal drafting and approval processes necessary for partnership proposals, reports, and budgets;
- Manage and develop a small portfolio of prospects and donors at the $25k+ level;
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Revenue Department colleagues and IRC program and support staff globally;
- Manage strategic admin support for the IPP team;
- Undertake special assignments, as directed.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Work Experience: Minimum 3 years account/project management experience gained in either a development/ fundraising office, or in a program/"field" context, including substantial writing and editing responsibilities
- Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
- Exceptional written communications skills and solid verbal presentation skills;
- Highly developed project management skills with the ability to work on own initiative, accurately to tight deadlines, and to prioritize between conflicting demands;
- Sophisticated understanding of the role of written communications in building and maintaining complex individual and institutional relationships;
- Knowledge of foundation and corporate philanthropy, with an interest in issues affecting the field;
- Ability to identify and create processes necessary to support effective partnerships;
- Highly computer literate, to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as familiarity with CRM databases, including Raiser's Edge;
- Ability to respond quickly to changes in short-term work priorities;
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data;
- Commitment to fundraising for international development, human rights, social justice and US immigrant communities.
