Director, Proposal & Report Development (Temporary)
Reporting to the Managing Director of Global Program & Field Engagement (GPFE), the incumbent will oversee day-to-day operations of the Proposal & Report Development functions of GPFE to achieve departmental objectives. The GPFE Team is a service provider and resource for the USF, providing UNICEF program expertise, UNICEF Engagement, field visit, proposal & report development services. The Director will work closely with USF staff and field officers in the development, planning, coordination and delegation of crafting proposals, reports, as well as other program materials to efficiently foster the strategic goals of the organization and uphold its overarching mission of saving children’s lives.
This is a three month temporary position from December 1, 2014 – February 27, 2015.
Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):
- Develop detailed proposals and reports for various multi-year/multi-million dollar major donors
- Strengthen fundraising initiatives across USF with donor strategy support, facilitation of cross-departmental collaboration and resource development
- Liaise with UNICEF Private Fundraising Partnerships Programme Services Unit to leverage UNICEF expertise and resources in fundraising initiatives (particularly the UNICEF donor toolkit)
- Keep abreast of USF and UNICEF programs and advise on new initiatives and possible synergies
- Develop and increase knowledge in UNICEF’s work in an area of country, regional, and program expertise in order to advise and inform USF staff and key stakeholders on fundraising opportunities
- Oversee GPFE’s response to day-to-day inquiries, questions and requests for proposal & report development assistance and determine appropriate work distribution and assignments
- Create and manage proposal & report development calendar to offer timely and strategic responses to proposal & report deliverables
- Create well-written content and design for proposals, reports, program statements and assisting others with drafting organizational messaging tools
- Supervise GPFE proposal and report development team members responsible for developing proposal & report materials
- Ensure all requests completed are of the highest quality and work delivered in a timely manner
- Prepare, develop and disseminate documentation in support of the department’s goals (e.g., program reports, proposals, one-pagers, materials for donor visits)
- Lead the writing process of proposals and reports, providing final review of drafts before submission to clients
- Act as Officer-in-Charge and represent GPFE department in the absence of the Managing Director
- Develop documentation on proposal & report development policies and procedures, and service delivery evaluation
- Carry out other special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree and a minimum of 10 years proposal and report development/writing experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Leadership experience in proposal program development and management, including strong track record of managing office operations, staff and workflow
- Strong leadership skills and ability to cultivate cooperative and positive relations with client users
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment and prioritize while working under multiple deadlines
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft programs (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word).
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Prior experience with an international nonprofit or fundraising preferred
