  • Negotiating joint policy platforms
  • Coordinating agreed partner action plans
  • Planning and executing joint campaigns

Description of Internship:

The Campaign and Research Intern works closely with the Washington Director and Campaign and Advocacy Manager in a small office. The work involves a range of duties including:

  • researching, collecting and analyzing information and intelligence about particular conflict situations, with a focus on Sudan and South Sudan, to inform advocacy campaigns. This may include:
  • liaising with leading international NGOs, the media, congressional committees and the Administration;
  • attending and analyzing congressional hearings and briefings, and other relevant events in Washington, DC;
  • monitoring international news to identify campaign opportunities.
  • assisting with the draft of advocacy documents including—but not limited to—background briefings, campaign memos, and advocacy letters.
  • assisting with logistics of the DC office, including arranging meetings with partners and congressional offices, as well as for international delegations, as needed.
  • coordinating advocacy campaigns with Crisis Action’s seven other international offices including help with popular mobilization and social media campaigns
  • assisting with administrative duties, such as maintaining contact lists and databases (including SalesForce), accounting of office expenses, and other basic office management as assigned
  • assisting the Syria Campaign Assistant when needed.

Current conflict priorities for Crisis Action in Washington D.C. include Syria, Sudan, South Sudan, and emergency conflict situations (e.g. Iraq). You will have the opportunity to learn about global conflicts and interact with high-level policy makers.
