Org. Setting and Reporting:

The internship is in the Career Support and Performance Management Section (CSPMS), Office of Human Resources Management (OHRM), Department of Management (DM) and is for an initial period of four months, with possibility of extension, pending the Section’s needs. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the Section to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities: Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background and on the projects of the Section. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Data entry and organization of documents
Developing graphic materials for training and marketing materials
Coordinating events such as meetings, training and information sessions held by the Section
Contributing ideas to the projects newly performed by the Section
Assist with completing projects for training programmes
Researching and compiling information relevant to the projects performed by the Section
Performing statistical analysis and manipulating large sets of data.

Requirements:

Be computer literate in standard software applications. Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideas of the Charter; and have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.

Applicants to the United Nations internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

(a) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
(c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in 3.1 (a) and (b) above) and, if elected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation,

In your Personal History Profile, be sure to include all past work experiences, IT skills, and three references.
