Position Summary

IREX seeks a data operations and information lead to support data and information management. This role will be responsible for planning, and implementing a system for tracking, archival, and management of electronic documents and data files related to the SJAC database system. The role will also be co-ordinating data collection activities with SJAC data sources – field data collection, and SJAC organization-level partners. The role will require collaboration with staff and partners at different local and remote offices of SJAC. The SJAC's documentation mission requires collection, aggregation, classification and research on large volumes of data, and media files. This role will be vital in managing the pipeline of data, from the source, to the archival and storage of the information, for better traceability and documentation objectives.

This is a part-time role.

Duties & Responsibilities

Information Management

· Support the center’s strategy to manage internal and external information.

· Plan for regular and irregular information projects and procedures.

· Develop the center’s Information Policies in support of documentation efforts.

· Implement and coordinate Information projects with other teams.

Data Acquisition, Storage and Archival

· In collaboration with others, develop and maintain the SJAC data workflow, support and implement data collection systems and strategies to optimize data volume, quality, and efficiency

· Coordinate with SJAC staff to collect, classify and track data.

· Provide reports on data management to SJAC team

· Ensure security of sensitive documents

· Plan, and estimate for storage, transfer, and secure handling of data from field-staff to online or offline storage

· Implement strategies and plans for secure data storage and archival.

· Define methods , procedures for traceability and management of large volumes of data files for both online and offline storage.

· Able to function in a Security-sensitve environment and experience with handling sensitive data.

· Assist with acquiring and abstracting primary or secondary data from existing internal or external sources if needed

· Assist in identifying problematic areas and gaps in datasets and develop solutions to correct issues.

· Perform data processing, cleaning, and analysis using various tools.

  • Co-ordinate as needed with contract staff, field staff, or partners to collect, track and account for data files,. The data could be in the form of USB drives, storage media, and data collection and web scraping.

Data Projects Management

· Support the documentation team towards the timely and accurate implementation of data pilots and projects.

· Support technology team in the ETL procedures

· Coordinate with the technology team to develop required data tools

· Generate routine and ad hoc reports

· Any other tasks assigned by the SJAC or IREX staff

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, or related field. Significant work experience with data operations may be acceptable in lieu of formal degree in these areas

· Experience in data management , operations and data collection techniques and procedures

· Strong work ethic, commitment to accuracy, and ability to handle confidential information

· Ability to function professionally and effectively in verbal and written English and Arabic
