Saba Reach Foundation seeks to create and provide alternative social and educational opportunities which are meant to enhance the personal and professional development and employability of individuals forming part of the Saban community.

The SRF Social Workplace Organoponics Farm functions as a sheltered working environment providing career employment to otherwise unemployable individuals who are given both practical and theoretical agricultural education and confidence building responsibilities around the farm. The farmers sell their locally grown, healthy, fresh, and organic garden produce to the Saban community. At the Organoponics Farm social development and agricultural production go hand-in-hand.The Garden Manager function includes:Social Workplace tasks

? Ensures a pleasant and safe working environment;

? Organizes group sessions and workshops with theaim of coaching and educating the staff;

? Conducts biannual performance appraisals andassessments with staff;

? Maintains attendance registers, developsschedules for all activities in the organic horticulture, and assigns duties to the staff offering guidance to ensure that tasks are clear;

? Consults with care providers on needs of clients.Production & Management tasks

? Prepares annual budgets and reports;

? Plans according to the gradual increased selfsustainabilityof the garden;

? Keeps informed of local and regionalnvironmental problems, identifies the needs of the local and regional population, responds by adjusting the plan for the biological horticulture projects accordingly;

? Develops food producing plants and relatedmechanical systems, consults with customers, suppliers, consultants to carry out evaluations and proposals for improvements;

? Competent in soil testing, identifying nutrient deficiencies, crop rotation and soil rejuvenation techniques

? Keeps informed of ‘best’ practices in the field of biological horticulture by exchanging information with local farmers and other sources with the purpose of realizing an efficiently and effectively functioning vegetable garden as possible;

? Maintains a network of local suppliers of fresh products and consults with local retailers about their needs for fresh products ensuring the fulfillment of agreements of such;

? Organizes markets to sell products from the organic vegetable garden ensuring that production in the organic horticultural produce is sufficient in order to provide the markets with fresh produce;

? Organizes (promotional) events about theactivities and objectives of the organic vegetable garden.

Skills, Knowledge & Requirements:

? Relevant (hbo)-bachelor degree preferred (plantsciences, horticulture, botany);

? Relevant work experience a must, in Caribbeansetting a plus;

? Able to live and work on a remote island withlimited resources;

? Knowledge of and insight into local and regionalenvironmental issues;

? Insight into organizational, social and financialcohesion;

? Skills in managing, guiding/coaching &coordinating projects;

? Command of English language;

? Strong networking abilities;

? Takes initiative, reliable, role model, team-player.
