Background:

The CRS Resource Acquisition Department is responsible for driving and supporting resource growth with major private and public donors. Within the department, the Foundations and Corporate Engagement (FCE) unit works to build strategic and long-term partnerships with foundations and corporations in order to grow CRS funding resources and influence.

Job Responsibilities:

The Senior Program Officer-Corporate Engagement is responsible for developing and implementing an agency-wide Corporate Engagement Strategy (CES), as well as promoting and supporting corporate engagement opportunities within the agency. The position is also responsible for identifying, developing, and managing strategic partnerships with aligned corporations. Duties include:

Corporate Engagement: Leadership and Vision

· Manage the development and execution of the CRS’ CE strategy

· Develop and monitor metrics for measuring CE success

· Explore and develop opportunities for leveraging of resources with Foundations, Public Resources, and Impact Investing

· Catalyze and champion events that create opportunities that for CRS to promote and enhance strong partnerships with corporate actors

· Support the development of publications or materials for audiences

· Prepare briefings for senior executives regarding the successes and challenges associated with the Corporate Engagement strategy

Corporate Engagement: Capacity Building

· Lead the development and delivery of tools, guidelines, and learning resources to build CRS staff capacity in Corporate Engagement (including relationship management, opportunity creation/pursuit, resource stewardship, and leveraging of results)

· Develop and promote linkages with regions and relevant departments to ensure there is agency-wide involvement in the CE strategy

· Provide mentorship and accompaniment to CRS’ field-based staff to cultivate and advance local cross-sector partnerships

· Support the ongoing development of pipeline and relationship management tools and processes

Corporate Engagement: Opportunity Identification

· Work with Strategic Priority Area (SPA) leaders and country programs to identify and assess opportunities for shared value with corporate partners

· Engage in market research to identify possible opportunities for leveraging and improving CRS’ competitive positioning for future funding and program impact

· Develop and maintain a robust database of business intelligence to inform CRS capture planning, win themes, and proposal development

· Coordinate and collaborate with foundation staff to develop common methodologies and approaches to facilitate strategic resource mobilization within the agency

Corporate Engagement: Relationship Management

· Collaborate with technical and management staff to develop compelling concept notes and proposals focused on shared value and win themes

· Ensure the timely and comprehensive review of corporate partners for strategic alignment

· Manage the process of formalizing relationships between CRS and corporate partners

· Ensure regular, proactive, and coordinated communications between the various stakeholders within CRS and the corporate partners

· Support the development of key marketing materials that highlight the impact and effectiveness of the partnerships

The Senior Program Officer’s portfolio, as well as the precise blend of responsibilities noted above, may vary depending upon department and unit priorities. The FCE Unit Director and Senior Program Officer will work together to clarify specific objectives during regular FCE unit work planning.

Supervisory Responsibilities:None.

Key Working Relationships:OverOps Field Staff, and HQ departments of Resource Acquisition, Program Impact, Operational Excellence, US Operations, and Charitable Giving. Priority contacts within targeted and prospective corporations, peer organizations, and industry networks.

· Highly developed verbal and writing skills; demonstrated ability to communicate diplomatically and build consensus

· Strong understanding of agency programs and priorities; demonstrated ability to translate internal materials into proposals and presentations for external audiences

· Understands and appreciates CRS core values; able to demonstrate in engagement with CRS staff and partners

Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in Business, International Affairs, or Development (or equivalent)

· 8-10 years of experience in institutional donor/partner relationship management and business development

· Proven track record in identifying and creating opportunities that lead to agency growth and impact

· Experience in knowledge and intelligence management, strategic planning and representation

· Proven track record in developing and executing engagement strategies specific to donors or corporate partner; prior experience working for or partnering with multi-national corporations preferred.

· Excellent networking, written and verbal communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

· Knowledge of prospect tracking systems and donor databases, as well as a detailed knowledge of Excel to develop complex proposal budgets.

· Understanding of international development work; prior experience with a development agency an asset

· Understanding of Catholic Church and the importance of CRS’ faith perspective regarding international development and justice issues preferred

· Team player who can also work independently in a complex and in a cross-discipline environment.

· French and/or Spanish a plus.

Physical Requirements/Environment:

· Normal conditions for an office environment.

· Ability to travel domestically and overseas as needed, up to 30%
