Counterpart International is currently seeking an intern to support the security operations for the organization. This is a full time, temporary position based in Arlington, Virginia. The initial period for the Internship is from December 2014 – March 2015 with the opportunity to extend.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
A security intern is needed to aid in the effort to implement and maintain security mechanisms for Counterpart International
The proposed intern will assist in the following activities:
• Monitor security events and the international movements of staff.
• Monitor global security incidents and trends through open source internet sites.
• Conduct verbal security briefings and prepare written security memorandums for Counterpart staff deploying or traveling abroad.
• Receive emergency contact forms from international delegates and Counterpart HQ staff and maintain the Emergency Contact Database.
• Collect incident reports and update Security Incident Databases.
• Create maps of locations of programs, offices/residences and security incidents.
• Provide support to Counterpart’s Director of Global safety and security.

Requirements:

This is a substantive internship with responsibilities. Correspondingly, it calls for a responsible graduate student, recent graduate from an advanced degree program, or relative equivalent, with some professional experience. Candidates must be motivated, detail-oriented and have strong quantitative, analysis, and writing skills. A background in international security and geopolitics is desired. A strong interest in international security issues required.
