Position Summary
Nations in Transit, Freedom House’s annual survey of democratic governance from Central Europe to Central Asia, currently seeks a research and administrative intern to be based in Freedom House’s New York office. In addition to providing support to the editors of Nations in Transit, this intern will have the opportunity to become involved with diverse activities associated with the research and production of all annual surveys produced in the New York office, particularly Freedom in the World and Freedom of the Press. The duration of the internship is flexible (3-6 months), starting January 5, 2015. This is an unpaid position.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program.
- Strong writing and proofreading skills in English
- Demonstrated experience conducting Internet research
- Background or interest in international affairs and human rights
- Ability to conduct research in a second language, with particular preference given to languages of Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union preferred
- Experience working with time-series data preferred
