Type: Permanent Full Time

Reporting to: Director of Programs

Direct Reports: none

Peers: Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, Program Managers

Location: CFTC Head Office, Toronto, Canada; international travel required

Suggested Start Date: January 2015

BACKGROUND

Our vision is a world in which children thrive, free from poverty. For over 25 years, Canadian Feed The Children has funded local partners in Ghana, Ethiopia, Uganda, Haiti, Bolivia and across Canada, enabling them to support community-led programs that have positive, meaningful, and sustained impact on the food security, education and well-being of children and the self-sufficiency of their families and communities.

Food security is one of the three change pathways of the CFTC Theory of Change and the central focus of our programming, with climate change adaptation being a cross-cutting theme in much of our work. While CFTC’s food security programming varies widely across country programs and local partners, collectively all programming aligns with three long-term Theory of Change outcomes designed to deliver impact in the areas of food availability, food access, and food utilization.

CFTC is currently seeking a passionate and experienced food security specialist with expertise in climate change adaptation (CCA) programing. A seasoned technical advisor, the successful candidate will bring in-depth and practical knowledge and know-how to both CFTC’s current operations and program and proposal development. The person in this position will have significant experience developing, preparing and writing institutional funding proposals. He/She will be able to work across countries with both staff and partner organizations in a collaborative manner to build capacity on key programming issues and themes. A strong ability to communicate and share knowledge and ideas across a wide variety of stakeholders is critical to success in this position. Experience in the field – preferably in Africa – is necessary for this position. The candidate will be committed to our mission and CFTC’s theory of change approach, and will fit within a strong values-based culture.
