Opportunities for unpaid Volunteers
For many years the Federal Court has provided development assistance to judiciaries across Asia and the Pacific. The Court is seeking two Volunteers to assist with its Terminal Monitoring and Evaluation Report for a regional Pacific program in the Federal Court of Australia Sydney Registry for a minimum of 2 days a week for 3 months commencing January 2015.
The roles are unpaid, and applicants are expected to meet all their own costs.
Research Intern on Pacific Judicial Systems
The Federal Court of Australia is implementing the Pacific Judicial Development Programme (PJDP) for the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 14 Pacific jurisdictions.
The goal of the programme is: Strengthened governance and rule of law in Pacific Island Countries through enhanced access to justice and professional judicial officers who act independently according to legal principles.
The Federal Court of Australia is seeking Volunteers to work with the Court’s Director of International Programs to:
- Collate PJDP data from a broad and diverse range of identified sources;
- Sort, analyse and select pertinent data to include in the Terminal Monitoring and Evaluation Report; and
- Draft and proof-read the Report.
The applicant will need to demonstrate:
- An ability to analyse multiple data sources, including survey data;
- Excellent written skills - being able to present disparate information clearly in different formats;
- Excellent Excel skills – being able to collate, sort and present data in a variety of ways;
- Good graphic skills – being able to present data using multiple graphics;
- Ability to work under direction and independently; and
- Ability to work to strict deadlines.
