Chemonics seeks a security manager based in Washington, D.C., to support our Afghanistan regional business unit. The manager will help ensure the security of the region's dynamic portfolio and new business efforts. The successful candidates demonstrate leadership, diplomacy, and proactive problem-solving skills. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- ?Managing regional incidents and emergencies in collaboration with the Global Safety and Security Department (GSSD)
- Collaborating closely with the director to ensure that projects and personnel maintain proper safety and security procedures, in accordance with USAID regulations and Chemonics’ policies
- Updating the director and GSSD on potential safety and security related risks within the region
- Conducting basic and detailed assessments of project security performance and ?regularly submitting updated findings to GSSD for corporate security performance metrics
- Assisting project management units and project teams, leading the recruitment, hiring, and monitoring of safety and security project staff, ensuring selected personnel meet appropriate requirements
- Assisting field security team and addressing field staff safety and security inquiries and needs promptly
- Ensuring travelers have researched the risk environment via the information security provider prior to travel and conducting security briefings for designated high- or critical-risk countries
- Providing support for security subcontract procurement, management, and administration of new and ongoing projects and new business development needsQualifications:
- ?Four years of administrative or technically relevant work experience in the field of security
- Knowledge of and previous working experience with USAID preferred
- Experience implementing security platforms for civilian operations in conflict zones, including successful crisis management
- Ability to operate at advanced levels of authority and manage significant activities, budgets, and resources to produce and take responsibility for results
- Willingness to work in Afghanistan 4 to 8 weeks per year and to consider long-term overseas assignments
- Ability to solve complex technical, managerial, or operational problems and evaluate options based on relevant information, resources, well-rounded experience, and knowledge
- Strong knowledge of MS Office applications
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
