Background
ReliefWeb posts announcements for humanitarian and development jobs, consultancies, internships, and volunteer opportunities on behalf of organizations as a free service in accordance with its mandate to strengthen the response capacity of the humanitarian community. Around 120 new announcements are posted per day. ReliefWeb makes all attempts to ensure the authenticity of each announcement published and vets all job providers before publishing their ads.
Tasks and responsibilities
Assist with the daily operations of ReliefWeb’s job section:
- Ensure quality control for job submissions, including checking and correcting metadata and preventing spam, fraudulent and other inappropriate content
- Establish and maintain relationships with job providers, including vetting and verification, providing account support and ensuring that account activities are in accordance with policies and procedures
- Evaluate, prioritize and answer requests from users needing assistance
- Contribute to improving processes, documentation and user interface
Required Qualifications/Skills/Traits
- Experience working with web-based content management systems, application of controlled vocabulary and metadata, providing quality control and client/user support
- Highly-developed sense of attention to detail
- Strong organizational, customer service and interaction skills
- Aptitude to correctly interpret and follow guidelines for content management
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, particularly on online media
- Fluent in English, working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an advantage
- Experience or interest in information management, humanitarian affairs, international relations, human rights and/or development is an advantage
Other requirements
- Starting date: As soon as possible
- Duration: Minimum six months with possibility for extension
- Part-time and/or off-site work possible after initial onsite training period
- Flexible schedule to work early/late and weekend/holiday shifts as necessary
- Access to computing assets adequate for discharge of duties
Please note that this is a freelance contractor position, which is paid on an hourly basis with no additional benefits. It is not a UN staff position.
