Chemonics seeks a long-term capacity building and learning lead for the ongoing USAID-funded Climate Change Adaptation Assessments, Thought Leadership, and Learning (ATLAS) project. ATLAS works to improve the quality and effectiveness of multiple countries’ development programs aimed at reducing climate change risks through tested and harmonized approaches to climate risk/adaptation-related assessments, thought leadership on climate-resilient development, and capacity building of USAID and its implementing partners.
The capacity building and learning lead will be based in the Washington, D.C., metro area. This position is available as a part-time or full-time role. Under the full-time position, along with the responsibilities listed below, the capacity building and learning lead will also serve as aproject management unit manager. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.? Responsibilities include:
- ?Lead the development and implementation of the project's learning and capacity building plan
- Prioritize key stakeholders, including USAID/Washington, missions, and country and implementing partners, to effectively implement climate-related assessment and programming
- Build knowledge-sharing strategies that contribute to existing USAID knowledge-sharing vehicles, programs, communities of practice, online forums, and websites
- Integrate learning a?nd capacity building activities with USAID Environmental Communications and Outreach efforts
- Conduct comparative analysis using various project assessment methods
- Organize and support workshops for climate change adaptation stakeholders, using climate-related assessment methods and USAID guidance for adaptation programming
- Produce, update, and share communications materials via virtual exchanges and other knowledge management portals
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, knowledge management, or other relevant field and 10 years of relevant experience (see next bullet) required; or master's degree and four years of relevant experience, or Ph.D. degree and six years of relevant experience
- ?Minimum four to 10 years of professional communications experience producing print and online knowledge management and communications products, including social media technologies, such as wikis and blogs
- ?Exper?ience applying creative tools for capacity building, learning, and communications
- Knowledge of USAID and USAID's development partners' communication style?s
- Experience with adult education theory and practice, with demonstrated consideration for gender integration and other social issues
- Proven capability in developing and managing content, especially online content
- ?Familiarity with basic usability interface concepts and practices, especially for database design, and Google docs
- ?Skilled in areas including video production, news judgment, email marketing, visual communications, information graphics, and graphic design
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
