J/P Haitian Relief Organization (J/P HRO) evolved as an organization since its inception in January 2010, transitioning from an emergency to a development context. Hence, the need for J/P HRO’s structure to adapt accordingly in order to support new monitoring and reporting needs, as well as efficiency imperatives. J/P HRO is seeking for Two “ Structural Engineers ” for the Engineering & Construction Department based in Delmas.

Summary:

The Structural Engineer is in charge of producing technical drawings and managing construction supervision in the field. S/he will coordinate and support providing technical solutions for the different projects and will validate and ensure the quality of the services provided to J/P HRO by its partners and subcontractors.

Responsibilities:

• Calculation and production of technical drawings• Analysis of geotechnical reports, dimensioning of foundations• Manage construction supervision in the field, directly or through the supervision of other employees• Propose and develop solutions to problems: use drawings, perform analyses and calculations, and develop design solutions• Assist in the implementation and quality control of design solutions and in the field, both in-house and developed by partners• Assist in the selection of partners and assessment of their capacity to provide effective design solutions• Assist in the selection of potential employees and assessment of their capacity to provide effective design solutions• Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) / perform quantity surveying and update them throughout the design and implementation process• Manage schedules• Manage construction, including, but not limited to: answering Requests for Information / Clarification, producing site visit reports• Prepare meeting and other reports to communicate and summarize status of projects• Interface with other partners or services providers• Identify potential challenges or problems, coordinate technical solutions, and facilitate solutions involving partner organizations or outside service providers• Any other tasks assigned by the Project Manager or the Sr. Engineering & Construction Program Manager

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in Engineering from a recognized university, Masters is preferred• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the field of calculation of buildings and the management of construction supervision in the field• Excellent knowledge of the context of construction in Haiti• Familiarity with international and local building code standards• Mastery of the following applications: AutoCAD, MS Office or Open Office• Leading structural calculation software
