Summary of Position

IREX seeks a professional and enthusiastic Event and Special Projects Coordinator in the Education Programs Division. The Program Coordinator will coordinate events, manage travel logistics, and support program coordination for a portfolio of international education and basic education development activities.

Summary of Responsibilities:

EVENT COORDINATION:

· Solicit vendor (hotels, transportation) proposals and procure selected vendors;

· Negotiate with selected vendors on all aspects of event logistics;

· Manage event and travel budgets in coordination with project managers;

· Make domestic and international travel arrangements; and

· Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise prior to and during event.

SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATION:

· Manage a portfolio of participating program countries and associated Fellows;

· Develop or revise program materials;

· Manage host university partner subaward(s); and

· Support overall project management with other duties as assigned, including recruitment and selection, program monitoring, and report writing.

Skills and Qualifications:

· Previous experience in planning/managing large events, preferably in an NGO setting;

· Excellent customer service and organizational skills, including an ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment;

· Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills, both in person and by phone, with high professionalism;

· Excellent attention to detail;

· Ability to solve problems and work independently;

· Strong computer skills, including Excel;

· Experience with and interest in educational development, international exchanges, and continuing education programs strongly preferred;
