FIDH is hiring its Delegate to the United Nations in New York.

The delegate shall carry out the activities of the FIDH's Delegation in New-York and shall be accountable to FIDH Executive Director, under the supervision of the Director for International Advocacy and the Director of the FIDH's Office in New York. The delegate shall have the following duties and responsibilities:
Implementation of FIDH Delegation's activities:
- Contribute to the drafting of relevant briefing documents, advocacy papers and public interventions on these issues.
- Keep track of the UN Agenda (both UNSC and UNGA) and inform FIDH geographic and thematic desks of advocacy opportunities.
- Provide information on and distribute documents of FIDH and its member and partner organisations work that is relevant to the United Nations and its diplomatic missions.
- Organise the participation of FIDH member and partner NGOs with diplomatic missions and UN officials (participate in discussions defining interface strategies, contribute to the preparation of terms of reference, receive human rights defenders, assist with the preparation of advocacy documents, participate in interface meetings).
- Participate in planning and reporting on the Delegation's activities, in particular through updating the annual activity report and preparing interface data sheets and activities' reports.
Facilitate interaction with internal and external actors
- Contribute to sharing information on the respective strategies and activities of FIDH's desks and delegations, and contribute to sharing information with external partners.
- Contribute to strengthening ongoing interaction with member organisations (facilitate the reception and support of these organisations).
- Participate in administrative tasks and logistics.
- Participate in training for interns and volunteers.
Professional background:
At least two years of professional experience in the field of human rights, in particular, substantial practice in multilateral advocacy and lobbying.
Education: Masters in law, international relations, human rights or political science.
Fluent in English. Knowledge of Spanish or French would be an asset.
Conditions:
Full-time one-year contract
Salary: from $ 60 000 per year, based on experience. Recruitment at a different level based on a modified position profile may be considered
