IESC – the International Executive Service Corps – is a US based not-for-profit with a focus on supporting private enterprise in developing countries. We have worked in partnership with local people in 130 countries - mainly with the generous support of USAID - designing, implementing, managing and evaluating a wide range of market driven solutions along the entire value chain of a company or industry.

IESC is seeking a meat sector expert for an anticipated USDA Food for Progress program in the Dominican Republic to serve as a deputy project director and meat sector lead. The Food for Progress program provides for the donation of U.S. agricultural commodities to developing countries and emerging democracies that are committed to introducing or expanding free enterprise in their agricultural economies. The anticipated program will work in the meat, dairy, and horticulture value chains to increase agricultural productivity and expand the trade of agricultural products domestically, regionally, and internationally through focusing on food distribution systems aimed for export and creating a business enabling environment for export (to support the Central America Free Trade Agreement [CAFTA] DR). The meat sector expert will work with pack houses and producers in the public and private sector to increase the quality to meet demand of buyers and processors. This position is full-time and based in the Dominican Republic.

Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in agriculture, economics, agronomy, food safety, veterinary or related field

· Minimum five years of experience with equivalence certification of meat inspection systems

· Experience and knowledge of livestock health and veterinary systems

· Meat and dairy value chains experience required; specific experience with bovine is desirable

· Experience working with USDA highly desirable

· Experience working in the Dominican Republic or other CAFTA countries

· Fluency in English and Spanish required
