Chemonics seeks project management directors for the West Africa and Haiti (WAFH) regional business unit with expertise in either education and youth, agriculture and food security, or health. The directors will provide technical and administrative support to one to two projects in WAFH’s regional portfolio, which currently includes eight projects in Nigeria, Ghana, Haiti, and Côte d’Ivoire. Ideal candidates will have a successful background in project management, proposal writing and development, and demonstrated ability to build and maintain respectful relationships with partners and people. We are looking for applicants who are energetic and organized; are passionate about the work we do in West Africa and Haiti; and offer solid judgment, leadership, and the ability to think quickly in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include:
- Provide project operational, technical, and financial leadership and management of staff to facilitate project implementation
- Manage overall direction of all technical, administrative, and financial management activities
- Maintain open lines of communication with the chief of party and foster collaborative relationships with USAID, government officials, partner organizations, and other stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, Chemonics processes, and USAID policies and regulations
- Lead new business efforts as a proposal lead and/or technical writer, playing a critical role in identifying winning strategies, key partners, and staff to complement our teamQualifications:
- ?Bachelor's degree required; master's or Ph.D. degree preferred
- Minimum eight years of relevant project and staff management experience required
- Experience overseeing large U.S. government-funded programs preferred
- Technical expertise in agriculture and food security, education and youth, or health required
- Long-term overseas project management experience on a USAID-funded project strongly preferred
- Knowledge of USAID project management rules and regulations
- Ability to solve complex technical, managerial, and operational problems
- Ability to manage and control significant activities, budgets, and resources to produce results
- Ability to manage and supervise staff
- Willingness to travel and work in West Africa and/or Haiti at least six weeks per year
- Ability to? work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Experience in the West Africa and Haiti region preferred
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Proficiency in French strongly preferred ?
