Chemonics seeks a Washington, D.C.-based director who exhibits versatility, integrity, and leadership to provide technical oversight and administrative backstopping to the USAID/OTI-funded Libya Transition Initiative (LTI) I and II programs. These programs support Libya's efforts to build a peaceful and inclusive democratic future that reflects the will and needs of the Libyan people. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
• Provide project management oversight, technical implementation, and leadership
• Support business development efforts
• Provide day-to-day supervision of staff
• Contribute to corporate strategies, financial management, and staff development
Qualifications:
• Experience overseeing U.S. government-funded programs in transition environments preferred
• Understanding of USAID/OTI programming strongly preferred
• Minimum six years of project and staff management experience required; minimum eight years of experience preferred
• Long-term overseas project management experience on a USAID-funded project strongly preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of USAID project management rules and regulations
• Experience supporting USAID-funded projects in startup and closeout preferred
• Successful experience implementing Grants Under Contract for USAID programs preferred
• Ability to conceptualize, plan, perform, and direct the research and writing of technical documents
• Ability to solve complex technical, managerial, and operational problems
• Ability to manage and control significant activities, budgets, and resources to produce results
• Demonstrated leadership, management, organizational, and decision-making skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise staff
• Ability to travel and work in the Middle East and abroad approximately three months per year
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Middle East and Libya experience preferred
• Proficiency in Arabic or French preferred
