MISSION STATEMENT Motivated by Christ's love, this position plays a key role in promoting the wholistic ministry of Food for the Hungry (FH) through the framework of the organization’s vision, “God called and we responded until physical and spiritual hungers ended worldwide.” In order to accomplish this vision, FH’s mission is to “walk with churches leaders and families in overcoming all forms of human poverty by living in healthy relationship with God and His creation.”

PURPOSE OF THE JOB The Agriculture and Climate Change Technical Specialist is expected to provide technical support to ongoing FH food security and livelihood programs with both private and public funding and the U.S.-based food security capacity building initiatives including representing FH on TOPS and other technical forums. This position will also assist in developing new funded programs for United States Agency for International Development (USAID), U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA), Department for International Development (DFID) programs, United Nations (UN), Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), etc. Particular emphasis will be on ensuring FH applies sustainable practices through its Child Focused Community Transformation (CFCT) program model in all agricultural programs, including both crop and livestock programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Key Result Area #1 - Provide technical support to ongoing food security and climate change programs with both private and public funding. Emphasis will be on sustainable agricultural practices (approximately 60% of time)

Key Result Area #2 - Provide technical support for the development of new programs (approximate 30% of time).

Key Result Area #3 - Represent the organization at Private Voluntary Organization (PVO) coordination and briefing meetings in Washington, D.C. (approximate 10% of time).
