Summary:
CAMRIS seeks a Supervisory Information Specialist/Information Support Unit (ISU) Manager for an anticipated five year project that provides crucial operational and administrative support to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Bureau for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance (DCHA) in coordinating USAID’s international disaster response and humanitarian assistance, emergency and developmental food aid, conflict mitigation programs, transition activities and other DCHA Bureau initiatives.
The Supervisory Information Specialist/ISU Manager will be primarily responsible for managing the ISU, and ensuring a high quality of diverse informational support services to USAID Washington and USAID missions worldwide.
Primary Duties:
- Manage the ISU; address and coordinate staff and client needs in response to rapidly changing, complex and dynamic environments.
- Liaise with a variety of stakeholders including beneficiaries, disaster affected populations, local, regional and national governments as well as international organizations and donors to capture and disseminate comprehensive situational reports.
- Compile, analyze, and analyze information related to humanitarian emergencies and response efforts to draft, edit, format, and disseminate a wide range of internal and external information products in for USAID/Washington and missions worldwide.
- Research country contexts and developing emergencies to capture and disseminate up to date situational reports for a variety of domestic and international audiences.
- Communicate frequently and regularly with USAID, international development donor agencies and humanitarian assistance organizations.
- Attend meetings in Washington, D.C., and in disaster zones, and work closely with information counterparts from other U.S. Government agencies, the United Nations, and non-governmental organizations, to ensure that all relevant humanitarian information is gathered and communicated to appropriate staff.
Qualifications:
· Advanced degree in a relevant field such as international relations, international communications, communications and media with a minimum of ten years of related work experience.
· At least five years of experience managing communications or strategic information units, relevant experience gained during humanitarian assistance, emergencies or response efforts highly preferred.
· Demonstrated knowledge of United States Government rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to humanitarian emergencies and response efforts.
- Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of global/international development programs including experience working for or with the United States Agency for International Development.
· A minimum of three years of experience collecting and disseminating communications for USAID projects and programs, experience in complex emergency, political/military situations, and humanitarian response efforts highly preferred.
· Experience as a representative of an organization liaising with counterparts at various local, regional, national and international levels. Counterparts include United States Government and foreign government agencies, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, project beneficiaries, and disaster affected populations.
· Strong experience in information management required.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize and multi-task.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
