ABOUT AMERICARES:

Confront crisis. Create change.

In the simplest of terms, that is the mission of AmeriCares, an emergency response and global health organization committed to saving lives and building healthier futures with people in crisis in the United States and around the world.

Since 1982, AmeriCares has worked to address the health and humanitarian needs of people in communities affected by poverty and disaster. Together with its global network of partners, AmeriCares has helped millions of people confront the health crises they face, creating sustainable change to restore health and providing pathways for hope and opportunity.

Today, AmeriCares is the world’s largest provider of donated medicines and medical supplies, both in the United States and worldwide. The organization complements and leverages this core competency to strengthen its emergency preparedness, response and recovery efforts, targeted public health programs, and model primary care clinics. AmeriCares pursues this by working alongside more than 3,500 local partners, and through programs which:

  • Restore and enhance health services, particularly in the face of disaster;
  • Increase access to medicines and supplies in under-resourced settings; and,
  • Catalyze long-term improvements in health care delivery.

Since its founding in 1982, AmeriCares has delivered more than $11 billion in humanitarian assistance to people in 164 countries around the world.

AmeriCares accomplishes its objectives through three core areas of service: Emergency Preparedness, Response & Recovery; Global Public Health; and Model Primary Care Clinics.

Building on its core strengths, and expanding its capacity, AmeriCares is expanding programs and partnerships that integrate medical and other resources to create critical public health outcomes. Additionally, AmeriCares is expanding its global footprint and maintaining the entrepreneurial and nimble culture that has defined it for decades.

AmeriCares values responsiveness (we are predisposed to act), results (we make a difference), collaboration (we are stronger as a team), efficiency (we are responsible stewards of all donor resources), and integrity (we act with respect, honesty, and transparency).

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Technical Advisor is responsible for enhancing the quality and impact of AmeriCares delivery of medicines and medical supplies to health care institutions in low-resource settings through the Global Medical Assistance Program and Emergency Response & Recovery Program.
